Abstract
This section of the symposium will recognise that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an indisposable toolkit for adults, both in higher education and in working life, where the demands on self-monitoring and independence are very high. It will also include a section about general principles of compensation, as opposed to "drill and practise" activities, highlighting the fact that the concept of successful compensation should include not only technology but, equally important, methods and strategies. 1-2 case studies will be shared. Swedish and international research on compensation will be discussed. Appreciating that the conference and the book address an international audience, the speaker/writer will also give an outline of the general conditions for societal support and funding for both dyslexic children and adults in need of ICT in Sweden. Links will be made to the primary sector (Victoria Crivelli) and to the secondary sector (Moira Thomson).
