Editorial

The 6th BDA International Conference entitled Dyslexia: The Dividends from Research to Practice took place at the University of Warwick in March 2004. It was a huge success and was attended by almost 850 delegates from 35 countries. We are very pleased to have benefited from the views of so many that participated in the conference.

We were very pleased to welcome Sir Steve Redgrave CBE as guest speaker at the Conference Dinner. He reminded delegates what it was actually like to be dyslexic. Involved as we are it is necessary to be reminded every so often that our subject is someone else's life.

We are thrilled that the majority of speakers have agreed to allow their papers to be included on the website and CD-ROM. If you were there we hope that this will enable you to revisit those papers you attended and catch up with those you missed. If you were not able to attend I hope that it will be a clear demonstration of the immense strides that have been made since we had to regularly defend ourselves against those who did not 'believe in' dyslexia.

I hope the quality of the research presented here will make you very eager to come to the next BDA International Conference in 2007. Further details on dates, venue and speakers will be posted on the BDA website when available.
