Abstract
This workshop is built on a material which allows students to discover mathematics on their own level. The tasks the students are working with are the same for students in year 1 and students in year 12. The only difference is on which level the students solve the problem or investigate the task. All tasks includes concrete material which allows the students to solve the problem at one level. The challenge is to see how deep into the iceberg of mathematics you can get. We have used the task for several years with great success in Sweden. Mostly with students in year 6-9 (12-16 years old). Especially for students with dyslexia we have found the material to be one way to work with mathematics without letting the dyslexia problems stop them. The material originates from Australia where we have been twice to get professional development on the tasks. Together with an unusual way of teaching math, without any mathematics books, we have found that these tasks provide a new way of letting students succeed and develop mathematical skills. During the last three years we have written two books about this way of mathematics teaching. In our workshop we will give a short background to our way of work. The participants will also be able to work with the tasks.
