Abstract
We are teaching maths to Year 6 dyslexic and dyspraxic pupils at Fairley House School. We have been looking at the SATs and NFER results of Year 6 children over the last four years to extrapolate common themes regarding strengths and errors. During the last two years we have also looked at the results of Years 3, 4 and 5 tests. Analysis of our results year on year has led to greater teacher understanding of errors. We have also compared the results of the two tests; our findings make interesting reading, especially when compared with the research done by NFER! Through inset and workshops we have been able to share our findings with colleagues and parents and discussed ways of giving greater help to pupils in certain areas of maths. Our paper will discuss the patterns we have discovered, the input and outcome, and seek to answer the question: "How far does error analysis of test results year on year help us to teach maths to dyslexic and dyspraxic children more effectively?"
